Trends in Religious Affiliation in the US

See here.  I think that number of atheists/secularists in this country has reached a critical mass.  There was a time when coming out as an atheist was as or more difficult than coming out of the closet as a homosexual for a lot of people in this country.  This is changing.  More and more people are taking the plunge, as the graphs show.

  • I think you are right – From Obama’s inaugural address: “We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers.” When a mainstream politician can/must mention nonbelievers in major political speeches, you know they are too big a group to ignore.
